PETER A. HERTZ, Waterloo Commercial Litigation, Municipal Law, and Construction Lawyer

Peter is a partner in the firm’s Civil Litigation Group and serves a commercial and municipal clientele. His practice focuses on construction law, municipal issues and debtor/creditor issues.  Peter is a member of the Ontario Expropriation Association and has successfully represented clients at the Ontario Municipal Board in market value disputes and business loss claims. Peter has also conducted by-law prosecutions and appeals for several municipalities, and previously conducted provincial offence prosecutions for the Ministry of the Attorney General.

Peter is originally from Kenora, Ontario.  He obtained his Honours Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2005, and his Bachelor of Laws (with distinction) from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2008, where he obtained first class standing and was awarded the David Mochan Memorial Award in Criminal Law and the Maritime Law Book Award in Professional Responsibility.

Outside of work, Peter can usually be found playing, coaching, watching or talking sports.  Peter is a member of the Football Canada Coaches Association and has coached football locally at Waterloo Collegiate Institute and with Twin Cities Minor Tackle Football.
