SIRAJ SYED, Waterloo Municipal Planning and Wills & Estates Lawyer

Siraj joined Duncan, Linton LLP as an associate in 2024, following his call to the bar. Before arriving at the firm, he articled with The Regional Municipality of Halton and spent a summer at a prominent full-service firm in southwestern Ontario. During that time, he gained valuable experience clerking at the Small Claims Court, where he drafted trial decisions, led municipal prosecutions at the Ontario Court of Justice, appeared before the Ontario Land Tribunal and prepared complex legal agreements. At Duncan, Linton LLP, Siraj’s practice focuses on municipal and planning law, and wills and estates.

Raised in Markham, Ontario, Siraj earned a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University. He then completed a Master’s in Professional Education, specializing in Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice, from Western University. He later obtained his law degree from Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law, where his passion for litigation led him to participate in the Donald G.H. Bowman National Tax Moot and Dalhousie’s Civil Trial Practice. Siraj also volunteered with Pro Bono Dalhousie’s Wills Clinic and mentored students through Dalhousie’s Indigenous Black and Mi’kmaq Initiative.

Before pursuing law, Siraj honed his leadership skills as Vice-President of his undergraduate student union and developed a strong client-focused approach through his teaching background.

Outside of work, if you do not find Siraj enjoying time with his family, watching sports, training for marathons or volunteering at his local mosque, you will find him fishing.
